UK Airspace Closed Until Saturday

Flights across much of the UK have been grounded for a second day as volcanic ash from Iceland drifts across Europe, posing a potential threat to aircraft.

Not sure if people have heard this news already, but for the past few days all UK Airspace has been closed (So that means no flights coming in, out, or anything. This will affect consumers, businesses and government operations) - this is all due to volcanic ash being carried from Iceland - which is to the north east of the UK.

Of course this ash cloud will affect parts of Europe and possibly Africa also, depending how the winds go.

The reason for the closure is because the ash may damage aircraft engines. They could be sucked into the turbines and cause the engines to fail - which is very bad! It is a major inconvenience for everyone in the UK and people abroad that need to come to the UK but safety is prime these days.

At the moment UK airspace is closed until Saturday, at least.

I still can't see any ash in the sky!

Hah. My dads car was covered in volcanic ash this morning.. Luckily they canceled their flight. Were meant to leave for Mexico today, but due to problems at their house they canceled it.

Would have lost over 3k.

Yeah the TWINGO got covered in a fine dusting of ash. It's slowly drifting down on a night.

..To be honest I'm not really that sure how health this crap is? If it can take down a plane, surely it's not a good idea for us to be breathing it in?

Yeah, I've heard a few people talking about the health risks. If this dust can destroy a jet engine then I guess it's totally capable of harming animals or humans too.

Apparently it's cocking us up a little while longer.

Chris Moyles Show this morning had like half the team in the studio as normal. But Chris Moyles was broadcasting from New York, as he can't get home, and Dom was broadcasting from Southern France, cuz he can't either.

Quality!
